Kraig Van Winkle 10/10/09 Zoe Strauss
Zoe Strauss hales from Pennsylvania and has over a decade of photography under her belt. As a young photographer, she has taken many narrative photos of off beat subjects. Sexuality, gender identity, patriotism, and every day living in poverty areas. Her photos reveal truth and showcases what actually is. She holds nothing back as she takes her photos of real time people of lesser more swept under the rug areas. She shows the people and the areas as is. For over 7 years she's had an on going installation entitled "Under I-95" in South Philadelphia. I enjoyed these images. She doesn't seem to do much (if any) photoshop. She also seems to take a lot of images of lines- per the back of industrial buildings or random objects that make a line. Those are not my cup of tea--- but I enjoyed the faces. These were interesting.
