Yvette Coronado submits Alessandra Sanguinettti

Alessandra Sanguinetti's series,The Adventures of Guille and Belinda and the Enigmatic Meaning of their Dreams, began in 1999 and developed into a four year project featuring two young cousins who lived outside Buenos Aires, Argentina. The series documents the adventures of Guille and Belinda and reveals the sisterly adoration and fulfilling friendship they share for one another. As the girls act out their fantasies in the countryside one can't help but feel like a voyeur, that's the beauty of Sanguinetti's work, one doesn't feel like the photos are staged in any way. The photos convey authenticity with the use of natural light, available surroundings and simple props.
In Ophelias, the girls float on their backs with their eyes closed while holding flowers. The photo is visually arresting, since their physiques contrast each each other. Guille is plump and Belinda is skinny; they become dual Ophelias, with Guille acting like Belinda's shadow. The Black Cloud captures an intimate moment before a storm. The girls are united, embracing each other, seemingly ready to tackle whatever comes their way. Madonna sets up a mock religious tableaux complete with a quepie doll Christ child.
Sanguinetti's series Adventures continues with The Life that Came, here we witness the girls growing out of childhood and into adulthood, especially with Belinda's pregnancy. Sanguinettei captures childhood and adolescence with wit and intelligence. These series and her recent work can be seen at her website(which is excellent) http://alessandrasanguinetta.com
