Amanda S. post #5: Doug Fogelson

These Doug Fogelson multiple exposures are intriguing experimentation in public places.  The layering of color and texture of the first photo vibrates with the frenetic energy of a crowded street.  Everyone has somewhere to be and in a hurry.  The only person looking directly at the camera is the child in the middle, engaging you with her stare.

This second multiple exposure appeals to me more than the first because of the crosshatching lines across the center, the continuing "skyline," and the apparent motion of the people.  I'm sure there were only about 15-20 people at any time the shutter was tripped, but the illusion he creates is a much larger crowd.  This is worth recreating on your own just to see if you can pull it off. I may give it a go!
