David Finell submits Tamotsu Nagata

            Tamotsu Nagata’s photos evoke memories of famous photographers of yesteryear.  From Henri Cartier-Bresson’s decisive moment to Ed Ruscha’s parking lots.  Tamotsu Nagata’s photos are all over the place, but seem to characteristics of many of the famous photos of the great photographic pioneers.  In the three images I have shown here, one can easily see the elements of the Giants.  The patterns the tire tracks make in the snow in the parking lot, the little girl running under the globe, the serene broad beachscape all show unique distinct uses of color and form that bring forth inquisitiveness and thoughtfulness.
