05 Randi Medina- Mary Ellen Croteau

Mary Ellen Croteu is a Chicago artist who creates some beautiful works of art with non recyclable items. She collects colored caps and masterfully arranges them by color to create these very awesome colorful works. She pays such great attention to the different shades of color and complementary colors that her work pops out at you like a painting. When I first saw an image of one of her pieces I was reminded of Chuck Close paintings. Not only is her color sense phenomenal but she also has a very great concept of making non recyclable items (trash essentially) into recyclable items. So there is this idea of really using something past its purpose and creating it into something beautiful.
