Alexis Diggs Reviews David Alekhuogie

California native, David Alekhuogie uses photography as his chosen medium to investigate  the relationships between race, politics, media, gender and power. In his most recent exhibition "Them Boys", Alekhuogie uses the cultural context of clothing as a vehicle to express the idea of society's perception of black males is racially bias as did John Edmonds in his photo series, Hoods.

Cropped and abstracted, the images of the sagging individuals do not reveal the age, race, or even sex of the participant. This creates a dialogue among the audience regarding fashion, the bodies the cloak, and the culture.
