Koening challenges flatness and space by highlighting the importance of
perspective in his photographs. In this series, he confuses the objective and
subjective in a larger sense, as opposed to resolving issues, he increased a
perception of tension that dwells in uncertainty. Koening carefully builds
crafted illusions that utilizes the camera’s capability to make optical tricks
and he cleverly layers the photographs into a single plane. Usually the
photographs feature a private space or an intimate moment set in a public space,
he suggests thoughts of our own private moments in the most generic and neutral
spaces.
